I’ve been trying to get rid of the yucky build up of grease and oil on our microwave and wood cabinets for weeks. They sit right above the stove, which gets a daily work out around here. I’d prefer not to use overly harsh cleaners, but my everyday ones weren’t cutting through the grease.
I tried a few natural remedies I found via Pinterest, but again they didn’t cut it. Today, I looked over at my little container of homemade gunk remover and realized that was my solution. It’s not just for removing labels!
It worked like a charm! I made a fresh paste of vegetable oil and baking soda, and the sticky build up just melted away! It was magical. Well, as magical as cleaning yucky dirt and oil can be.
The good news is, our microwave looks brand new! I just used a soft cloth to apply my mixture, then wiped it clean. I then used a glass cleaner to touch up any of the fresh oily residue left behind.
Kitchen Gunk Remover
1 part vegetable oil
2 parts baking soda
Mix together and apply with a soft cloth or paper towel. Watch gunky, oily build up disappear.

Do you have a stainless steel cleaner??? I have tried EVERYTHING and I am still getting streaks left behind

Thanks Angelina! I know what you mean,I haven’t been satisfied with any commercial cleaners either. Right now I’m using pledge, but I did get an email saying the granite cleaner worked well on stainless too! I will test it out and let you know:0)
It is a commercial product, but “Invisible Glass” is my go- to for streak free/haze free shine on glass, mirrors and stainless steel. I can’t wait to try this on the goo on my cabinets! TFS
How much of each do I use?

The measurement is 1 part vegetable oil, 2 parts baking soda. It can be any measurement, just keep the ratio the same. For example, 1 Tablespoon of vegetable oil, 2 Tablespoons of baking soda.
