DIY Mustache Glass with Martha Stewart Glass Etching Cream

DIY Mustache Glass, so cute and so easy to make!

Last week, I was thrilled to get a little box of Martha Stewart Crafts glass painting goodies in the mail. I found so many great ideas for projects at the Martha Stewart glass painting site, and was excited to try the etching cream. I decided to make these fun and easy DIY mustache glasses.

These look amazingly professional and they literally take minutes to create. Bonus; when you drink out of them, you look like you have a cute little mustache!

Supplies needed:

Martha Stewart Glass Etching Cream and brush (included)

Adhesive vinyl stencil – I used my digital craft cutting machine to create one

Rubbing alcohol

Plastic gloves

Step 1: Clean glass with rubbing alcohol to remove any dirt or residue.

Step 2: Apply vinyl stencil and make sure inside edges are smooth and flat.

Step 3: Using disposable gloves to protect your skin, generously apply glass etching cream inside stencil.

Step 4: Leave etching cream on for 30 minutes. Optional: At the 15 minute mark, apply a second thin coat to help the product distribute more evenly.

Note that the instructions say 15 minutes, but the etching was very faint at that time marker.

Step 5: After 30 minutes, rinse etching cream off using gloved hands to help it along.  I also took the safe route and placed a plastic bowl in my kitchen sink to protect the finish of my sink, then I poured the diluted cream and water straight down the drain.

Step 6: Peel off the vinyl stencil and use your cute new glass. It’s even dishwasher safe!

I loved our new mustache glass so much, I made a little set. I think these would make adorable gifts. Perfect for Valentine’s Day, Father’s Day, or even groomsmen gifts.
