Master Bathroom Makeover {Coral and Yellow}

March 1, 2012 by Melissa 22 Comments

It started with a free stencil, some almost free paint and a super plain bathroom. We ended up with a full blown makeover. Here is the before pic. Oh my, so boring.

And after…pretty, pretty!

Another before. Oh yes, still boring and beige.

And another after. So much better!

My sis let me borrow her Royal Designs Stencil, and I had a sample size of Martha Stewart Persimmon Red that was on clearance at Home Depot. I needed a big statement piece to hang on the wall, so I made my giant “zinc” letter.

Well, we couldn’t stop there. So my husband and I framed out our builder grade mirror. There were some hiccups getting it together, but it came out awesome! It is a huge difference.

After the mirror was finished, it was time for the fun stuff. The accessories! I scored some great deals at Home Goods. The clearance aisle was stocked with cute bathroom stuff.

I also bought a few inexpensive succulents to bring some life into the space. They remind me of the central coast, and the bathroom was taking on a fresh beachy vibe anyway, so perfect.

Can you believe I scored these high quality towels on clearance? Around $20 for the whole set! Yes!!! The mirror and the little wood table/stool, we already had on hand. The faux coral was a clearance score too. It had a broken spot on the back, and was super reduced. I pulled the big pillar candles out of my stash.

Here are so more angles, since the shape of the bathroom makes it hard to get it all in.

The bathroom is very open to our bedroom, in fact I stare right into it at night when I watch TV. So I’m really happy with the color carryover. Our bedroom is still a work in progress, but the bathroom is complete. Woohoo!

The supplies for the frame and the bamboo window covering, we bought at Home Depot.

I wasn’t actually planning anything specific for this space, but the little cabinet was on super clearance as well. Again, $20! So now we have a cute place to store our toilet paper and the rest just came together from things we had on hand. We have these cool personalized towels we got several years ago from West Elm, and the starburst mirror was too busy with the stencil after all, so into the um, water closet {?} it went. It hangs on the wall opposite the white cabinet.

I’ll leave you with another after picture.  I love the modern beachy feel. It wasn’t planned, but sometimes a room just wants to be something.  So what do you think?  Who wants to come take a bath here? Just so you know… the bathtub faucet is super powerful, so it makes awesomely high bubbles.

    Wow, I’m kind of in love with this transformation. I’m also kind of in love with your file cabinet and your white side table. And yes, I have been bitten with the white paint bug…just haven’t had the guts to try it out, yet. Maybe your stuff will inspire me to get on it, already! I’m your newest follower!

    Saw your beautiful bathroom makeover at The Rooster and The Hen RRR Party! So pretty! I love the color combination of the coral and yellow, very fresh and fun. You did a fabulous job stenciling the walls. I’m stenciling my bathroom right now and finding it a challenge, but I’m going to conquer it! lol You’ve inspired me to keep going. 🙂
