- 1 jalapeno deseeded (optional)
- 1/2 of a medium red onion
- 1 fresh garlic clove
- 1 teaspoon of kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 1/4 cup of loosely packed fresh cilantro or to taste
- Juice from one lime
