It’s really tough making healthy choices on the go, but in an attempt to make it a little easier, I’ve rounded up fifteen of my favorite healthy fast food selections. Last year, my husband and I lost over fifty pounds each. I used the Weight Watchers Smart Points Program which I love, and he stuck to making better choices over all and eating the healthier dinners I made for our family every night. My number one tip for successful weight loss is meal planning. I plan our dinners out weekly, and since I work on the blog from home, I plan breakfast and lunch for myself as well. Having healthy options on hand is the very best way to follow through with making healthy choices. That being said, sometimes schedule changes happen, you feel like eating something different, or your kids just want to go to Chick-Fil-A for lunch!
Note: I don’t personally recommend eating fast food regularly. You can easily track the calories or Weight Watchers points in fast food meals, but the high sodium can be a big issue. Realistically it’s a good idea to know what the better choices are so you don’t get off track when you are traveling, running errands, or you need a change of pace.
1.Chick-Fil-A Grilled Chicken Nuggets with Fruit Cup or Side Salad
The grilled chicken nuggets at Chick-Fil-A are so good! I love them with a fruit cup on the side and my husband likes them with a side salad. I like to dip mine in a very small amount of the Chick-Fil-A sauce since it has so many calories. I use about a quarter of a sauce packet. The lite lemonade is also a favorite!
12 Piece Grilled Nuggets – 210 calories – 5 grams fat – 3 carbs – 38 grams protein – 1 gram saturated fat – 0 grams fiber – 670 mg sodium – Weight Watchers Smart Points 3
Medium Fruit Cup – 45 Calories – 0 grams fat – 12 carbs – 0 grams protein – 0 grams saturated fat – 2 grams fiber – 9 grams sugars – 0 mg sodium – Weight Watchers Smart Points 0
Side Salad (no dressing) – 80 Calories – 4.5 grams fat – 6 carbs- 5 grams protein – 3 grams saturated fat – 3 grams fiber – 3 grams sugar – 110 mg sodium – Weight Watchers Smart Points 3
2. Chick-Fil-A Spicy Southwest Salad – 290 calories – 8 grams of fat – 27 carbs – 29 grams protein – 4 grams saturated fat – 8 grams fiber – 7 grams sugar -75 mg cholesterol – 970 mg sodium – Weight Watchers Smart Points 8
Chick-Fil-A Chili Lime Vinaigrette Dressing – 60 calories – 3 grams of fat – 9 carbs – 7 grams sugar – 390 mg sodium – Weight Watchers Smart Points 3
Chick-Fil-A has the best salads. They are loaded with so many goodies that I usually skip the dressing, but they do have several low calorie dressing options, and you can use half of the dressing packet to cut the calories further.
3. Chipotle Burrito Bowl with Chicken, Black Beans, Fresh Tomato Salsa, Roasted Chili-Corn Salsa, Romaine Lettuce and Guacamole on the Side*
420 calories – 10 grams of fat – 40 carbs – 43 grams protein – 3 grams saturated fat – 12 grams fiber – 7 grams sugar – 125 mg cholesterol – 1400 mg sodium – Weight Watchers Smart Points 9 plus guacamole*
Chipotle has a great recipe builder online so you can see what works for you and plan your order before you go. My biggest tip is to either skip the sour cream, cheese and guacamole or get them on the side and add a small amount to your burrito bowl to keep the portions under control. I get guacamole on the side and add about two tablespoons to my bowl. Chipotle is fairly high in sodium, so keep an eye on that as well.
4. Papa Murphy’s Family Size Thin Crust Pepperoni Pizza (12 slices – serves 6)
Nutrition Info for 2 slices -440 calories – 24 grams of fat – 36 carbs – 20 grams protein – 12 grams saturated fat – 0 grams fiber – 4 grams sugar -60 mg cholesterol – 880 mg sodium – Weight Watchers Smart Points 15
These pizzas are take and bake so you can’t technically eat them on the go, but they are PERFECT for a quick family dinner and extremely affordable. Because the crust is so thin, the pepperoni can make it overly greasy, so I take some of it off before baking and it’s perfect.
5. Papa Murphy Family Size Thin Crust Garden veggie – (12 slices – serves 6)
Nutrition Info for 2 slices – 420 calories – 20 grams of fat – 40 carbs – 22 grams protein – 10 grams saturated fat – 1 grams fiber – 3 grams sugar – 40 mg cholesterol – 800 mg sodium – Weight Watchers Smart Points 14
6. Del Taco Crunchy Value Tacos with Pico de Gallo added –
Nutrition Info for Two Tacos not including pico -260 calories – 16 grams of fat – 18 carbs – 12 grams protein – 7 grams saturated fat – 4 grams fiber – 2 grams sugar – 40 grams cholesterol – 260 mg sodium – Weight Watchers Smart Points 8
The Del Taco crunchy tacos from the value menu are budget friendly, tasty and low in Smart Points and calories. I have them add pico de gallo to mine for more flavor and freshness.
7. McDonald’s Egg McMuffin
300 calories – 12 grams of fat – 30 carbs – 18 grams protein – 6 grams saturated fat – 2 grams fiber – 3 grams sugar – 245 mg cholesterol – 730 mg sodium – Weight Watchers Smart Points 9
I like that McDonald’s is carrying breakfast all-day. They also have the Egg-White Delight available, but I think the traditional egg McMuffin is a heartier choice and I prefer the whole egg.
8. Panera Bread Half Turkey Sandwich (hold the mayo) and Cup of Lowfat Chicken Noodle Soup
Half Turkey Sandwich 380 calories – 0 grams of fat – 67 carbs – 31 grams protein – 6 grams saturated fat – 9 grams fiber – 10 grams sugar – 85 mg cholesterol – 1670 mg sodium – Weight Watchers Smart Points 11
Cup of Lowfat Chicken Noodle Soup 110 calories – 4 grams of fat – 13 carbs – 10 grams protein – 0 grams saturated fat – 2 grams fiber – 1 grams sugar – 75 mg cholesterol – 930 mg sodium – Weight Watchers Smart Points 3
Panera is such a fun, fast casual spot to take the kids or to meet up with friends. I like the half sandwich, soup or salad options. I LOVE the Plum Ginger Hibiscus Tea which has zero calories! I’ve cited the nutrition information for the sandwich from the Panera website, but I’m not convinced its accurate. The half turkey sandwich is very small, so it’s hard to believe it would have that much sodium and carbs. I’m going to send an email to Panera to confirm.
9. Taco Bell Steak Soft Tacos Fresco Style –
Nutrition Info for Two Tacos – 290 calories – 8 grams of fat – 34 carbs – 21 grams protein – 3 grams saturated fat – 3 grams fiber – 4 grams sugar – 45 mg cholesterol – 930 mg sodium – Weight Watchers Smart Points 8
Fresco style adds so much flavor!

Oh my goodness! I just love these little Sous Vide Egg Bites and darn it, the Starbucks in our area have been out for months due to a manufacturing supply issue. Luckily some of my blogger friends have them in their area and were sweet enough to send me pictures!

12. Starbucks Eggs & Cheese Protein Box –
460 calories – 24 grams of fat – 40 carbs – 23 grams protein – 7 grams saturated fat – 5 grams fiber – 21 grams sugar – 385 mg cholesterol – 530 mg sodium – Weight Watchers Smart Points 16
If you need a quick lunch on the go, Starbucks has a lot of great grab and go options. This is my favorite, especially if I’m traveling. Since I track my points on the Weight Watchers app, I usually skip the muesli bread, which I don’t care for anyway, and spread the peanut butter on the apples. Then I just track the items in the box individually to get a better idea of the points. 2 Smart Points per egg, 0 Smart Points for the Fruit, 3 Smart Points for the peanut butter, and 4 Smart Points for 1 oz of cheddar cheese for a total of 11 Weight Watchers Smart Points. I love this with an unsweetened or lightly sweetened iced tea.

These little wraps are small but filling, and they will keep you going much longer than a donut. Pair it with an Iced Caramel Latte Lite for a caffeine boost!

Great article! I often use diets in my life but all my friends think that “diet” means less carb in my eating life but it’s not true. Healthy carb is extremely important for healthy living! Probably the biggest thing for me was knowing my carbohydrates; it made a huge difference when I started to discover the difference between simple and complex carbohydrates.
