Melissa’s Mai Tai Recipe – a big batch pitcher recipe of the retro classic cocktail.

Melissa’s Mai Tai Recipe
I’m sharing my favorite cocktail recipe to make for a crowd! I use this Mai Tai recipe for everything from summer BBQs to a retro-themed Christmas Party. It’s easy to make, just measure and mix, and it’s the perfect blend of fruity and sweet, but not too sweet. During the summer, I serve it over crushed ice with fresh fruit and an umbrella. For a more elegant presentation, I serve it chilled in a coupe glass with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry. It’s always a hit with guests, and I personally love the retro classic.

Ingredients for Melissa’s Mai Tai Recipe
- Pineapple Juice – use a good-quality pineapple juice for the best flavor. Look for pineapple juice from the refrigerated section instead of canned pineapple juice.
- Dark Rum
- Light Rum
- Triple Sec – orange liqueur.
- Rosa’s Sweetened Lime Juice – in small batch cocktails, I like to use fresh lime juice and simple syrup, but I love Rosa’s when I’m making a big batch!
- Orgeat – almond syrup – this is my favorite ingredient in a Mai Tai!
- Garnish – orange, lime, pineapple, cherries.

How to Make a Mai Tai Pitcher
- Measure ingredients and mix together in a large pitcher.
- Refrigerate to chill.
- Garnish with fruit slices.
- Add ice right before serving.
- Can be mixed ahead.

Recipe Tips
- Easy to Make Ahead – just keep tightly covered in the refrigerator to keep fresh. If making ahead, make sure to stir again before serving.
- Pineapple Juice – taste the pineapple juice you plan to use. If it tastes good, use it in the recipe. I like to use pineapple juice from the refrigerated section for the best flavor.
- Add a Splash of Color – use a splash of maraschino cherry juice or grenadine to add another layer of color.

Tips for Serving
- Serve chilled in a coupe or martini glass. I have some vintage coupe glasses I like serving for a retro touch.
- To serve in larger tiki-style glasses, serve over crushed ice.
