Peanut Butter Heart Cookie Cups – soft homemade peanut butter cookie cups filled with festive Reese’s Peanut Butter Hearts. The perfect Valentine’s Day cookie!
Peanut Butter Heart Cookie Cups
Soft homemade peanut butter cookie dough baked in mini muffin tins and stuffed with festive Valentine’s Day Reese’s Peanut Butter Hearts! I love making peanut butter cup cookies in mini muffin tins, and I was curious if these peanut butter hearts would work in the same recipe! So I bought some bags of the peanut butter hearts and tested them out in the tins and they fit just right. The ratio of chocolate to peanut butter in the peanut butter hearts leans more toward chocolate, so when paired with the peanut butter cookie dough it’s a great match! A must-make Valentine’s Day cookie, especially for chocolate peanut butter lovers!

How to Make Peanut Butter Heart Cookie Cups
- Start by unwrapping the peanut butter hearts and popping them in the refrigerator.
- Prepare peanut butter cookie dough following the recipe card below.
- Use a small cookie scoop or tablespoon to divide cookie dough into mini muffin tin.
- Bake until light golden brown but still soft.
- Remove from oven and immediately press hearts into cookies.
- Let cool and remove from mini muffin tin.
Recipe Tips
- Refrigerating the peanut butter hearts before pressing them into the cookies makes the chocolate firmer and protects the chocolate from denting or cracking.
- For this recipe, I use a nonstick mini muffin tin to make sure the cookie cups come out easily.
- The chocolate hearts will get melty when pressed into the cookies but will set once cooled.
- To speed setting, place in refrigerator or freezer just until set.
- Use a plastic knife to help pop out the cookie cups once set. A plastic knife won’t scratch the nonstick pan.

- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon table salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 stick unsalted butter (1/2 cup) softened
- 1/2 cup peanut butter smooth
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup golden brown sugar firmly packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons milk
-
Adjust oven rack to middle position and preheat oven to 375℉.
-
In a medium sized mixing bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and baking soda. Set aside.
-
In the bowl of stand mixer with paddle attached, beat together butter, peanut butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar on medium speed until well combined and fluffy. Add egg, vanilla extract, and milk and continue mixing until smooth, scraping down sides as needed. Lower mixer speed and carefully add in flour mixture just until combined.
-
Use a small cookie scoop, or measure 1 tablespoon of cookie dough for each muffin tin. Bake for 8-10 minutes until light golden brown but still soft. Working quickly, immediately press chilled Reese's hearts into cookie dough. Hearts will get melty and then firm again as they cool. Once the chocolate is set again, remove cookie cups from mini tins. Alternatively, you can put the muffin tin in the freezer or fridge to speed the process.
