Googly Eyes Halloween Wreath – a fun and easy DIY Halloween wreath that trick or treaters will love!
DIY Halloween Wreath
This fun Halloween wreath is made with ping pong balls and googly eyes. Googly eyes are one of my all-time favorite crafting supplies, especially for Halloween. Our googly eyes halloween wreath makes everybody smile, especially our kids. This post contains affiliate links.
Supplies Needed
- 18 inch Straw Wreath Form
- 12 inch Straw Wreath if you prefer a smaller size wreath
- White ribbon or fabric to wrap wreath form
- Wire
- Practice Ping Pong Balls, Pack of 300 balls – I used around 250 ping pong balls and have some left over for future crafts.
- Googly Eyes
- Hot Glue and Hot Glue Gun
How to Make a Googly Eye Wreath
Step One: Tightly wrap straw wreath in ribbon or fabric, hot glueing the ends down. Use wire wrapped around wreath and twisted in the back to create a wreath hanger.
Step Two: Hot glue ping pong balls onto wreath. I added mine randomly until I felt it looked full and even. I just kept filling and stepping back to check my progress.
Step Three: Hot glue googly eyes to ping pong balls. Use a hair dryer to melt any hot glue strings left behind.
So fun! Display indoors or out of direct sun.

This is really clever! Tell me though, where would one find ping pong balls? lol

I ordered them off Amazon. If you click the link for practice ping pong balls above, it will take you there:0)

I love it! How big are the googly eyes you used?
And I found eBay much cheaper than Amazon for sourcing ping pong balls!
Melissa @ No. 2 Pencil
The googly eyes are 15 mm. The ping pong balls I linked to above are actually practice balls, and I couldn’t find them cheaper on ebay, plus I like the free shipping:0)

I made this today, it looks awesome! Instead of the black and white eyes I actually bought colored ones so it looks a little more vibrant. I love it though!!

I made it! It only took one evening and it looks great. I think my glue gun is hotter than average and the ping pong balls often gave a little pop when I put them on the wreath (I used a foam pool noodle for that) but other than surprising me, did no damage and held their shape. What would be cooler is if you could find glow in the dark ping pong balls!

Purchased glow in the dark ping pong balls at MC Sports.

That’s scary but I think it’s good idea to use it.

Hey, there! Just wanted to tell you that we made a version of this wreath, but with ping pong ball-sized eyeballs from Party City. I blogged about it and another wreath I made, and linked this article from it. In case you want to check out how ours turned out, here is is: https://jenniferbussey.wordpress.com/2012/10/23/creepy-crafting-mwa-ha-ha-ha/
Thanks for the great idea! We had so much fun! After I got my daughter to stop wearing it as an eyeball crown. Shiver…

How did you store it when Halloween was over? Did you have troubles with the ping pong balls falling off? I made this adorable wreath for Christmas using ornaments and half of them fell off in storage 🙁
Melissa
I stored mine in my garage, and I haven’t had a problem. It gets very hot in our garage in the summer too. I think the ping pong balls are more porous than the ornaments and the hot glue holds them together better.
Good luck!

Too funny! I bet if you put the wreath on the door the eyeballs dance when you swing it open. 🙂
