Bite-Sized Caprese Salad and Bread Dipping Oil Appetizer – marinated mozzarella does double duty in a quick caprese salad and as a dipping oil for bread.

Bite-Sized Caprese Salad and Bread Dipping Oil Appetizer
Marinated mozzarella combined with cherry tomatoes and fresh basil makes a shortcut caprese salad. I like to leave toothpicks out so it’s easy to pick up, then use the rest of the oil from the container for a flavor-packed dip for fresh or toasted Italian bread. Everyone loves it and wants to know where the oil came from! This is my go-to appetizer when I’m entertaining and serving any kind of Italian-style meal. It’s fresh and easy to make.

Ingredients for Bite-Sized Caprese Salad and Bread Dipping Oil Appetizer
- Fresh Mozzarella Marinated in Oil – I usually use fresh mozzarella balls marinated in a blend of Herbs and Oil. The pictured mozzarella also has chili peppers, adding a little bit of a kick to the oil. I also use the marinated mozzarella from Trader Joe’s, or the big container available at Costco for a larger crowd.
- Cherry Tomatoes – I look for the round cherry tomatoes.
- Fresh Basil – chopped fresh basil for the caprese salad and the oil for dipping.
- Kosher Salt and Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- Bread – for dipping
