Chocolate Chunk Cookie Bars – soft buttery cookie bars loaded with melty semi-sweet chocolate chunks and mini chocolate chips.

Chocolate Chunk Cookie Bars
These Chocolate Chunk Cookies Bars are so delicious! Rick chunks of semi sweet chocolate baked in a golden brown buttery cookie dough. So simple to bake and perfect for feeding a crowd. The texture of the semi sweet chocolate chunks is outrageously chocolatey and delicious, definitely a hit with chocolate lovers!

Ingredients for Chocolate Chunk Cookie Bars
- Unsalted Butter – high qualify unsalted butter for the best results
- Granulated Sugar & Golden Brown Sugar – an equal amount of granulated sugar and brown sugar make the perfect balance of flavor and texture
- Large Eggs
- Pure Vanilla Extract
- All-Purpose Flour
- Baking Soda
- Kosher Salt – if using table salt, reduce to 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- Mini Sweet-Sweet Chocolate Chips
- Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chunks

How to Make Chocolate Chunk Cookie Bars
- Prep: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 baking dish with foil and spray with cooking spray.
- Cream:Â In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix:Â Beat in eggs and vanilla extract. Gradually add flour, baking soda, and salt; mix until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips.
- Bake:Â Press dough into prepared pan. Top with remaining chocolate. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Cool:Â Let cool completely in the pan before cutting and serving.

Recipe Tips
- This cookie bar dough is thick and dense, so a light colored 9×13 metal cake pan is the best pan for baking these cookie bars. Heavier ceramic baking dishes will take longer to cook and can cause the top to overly brown. A glass baking dish can work in a pinch but the bars generally don’t bake as evenly.
- I like to use my stand mixer, since the dough is pretty thick but a hand mixer will work as well.
- Transfer the cookie dough to the foil lined pan and sprinkle with more mini chocolate chips and chocolate chunks. I really go all in with the chocolate chunks on top because I love the texture and the look of the bars once they are baked. So rich and delicious!
- I like to under bake the bars just slightly and usually take them out right at the 30 minute mark.
- Cookie bars are intended to be thick and soft not hard and crispy. Just like regular cookies, they will continue baking when they are removed from the oven.

- 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 3 cups of all-purpose flour

- Add in eggs and vanilla extract and continue to beat.
- Lower speed of mixer and add flour, baking soda and salt, and mix until combined.
- Add 1 cup of chocolate chunks and 1 cup of mini chocolate chips and give a final stir, reserving some chocolate chunks and mini chocolate chips for topping cookie bars.
- Transfer cookie dough to prepared baking dish.
